NICAS
The National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS) is a nationally-recognised climbing scheme aimed at introducing participants to the world of climbing. Moving on to developing their skills and solidifying their foundational ability, this multi-week course gives climbers everything they need in order to become a great climber!
Full details can be found on the NICAS website.
The climbing award scheme (NICAS Ropes) is available for roped climbing, whereas the bouldering award scheme (NICAS Bouldering / NIBAS) is available for bouldering.
NICAS taster sessions are now available to experience a lesson before booking a full course – ideal for helping decide between ropes and bouldering!

Level 1

Level 2
Level 2 typically takes one full term to complete. Some candidates may require more time or less time based on age and experience.
Level 3

This level brings candidates up to the standard of being ready for lead climbing in level 4, so minimum grade standards will begin to come into play.
Level 4 (Ropes only)
Level 4 varies largely between participants and often takes many terms to complete as a large part of this level is entirely new and technically difficult.
